Named in recognition of Carl Nowell’s legacy of service and leadership, this award celebrates those who exemplify dedication, persistence, and collaborative spirit in advancing effective programs and systems of care. Recipients are leaders who inspire others, value teamwork, and consistently work to improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities impacted by substance use disorders.
Presented annually at the ASADS Conference, the Carl Nowell Leadership Award represents one of ASADS’ highest honors, recognizing individuals whose influence and service create lasting, positive change across Alabama’s prevention and recovery landscape.
